Privacy policy
Last updated: January 2025. This policy explains what data Similia collects when you visit the site, book a consultation, or contact us — and the choices you have. We have kept the language plain on purpose, because privacy documents should be readable.
What we collect
- Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, chosen appointment details, and any notes you share when booking a consultation or sending a message through the contact form.
- Information collected automatically: your IP address (truncated where possible), browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you visit, recorded through cookies and similar technologies.
- Comments: if you comment on an article, we store the name you provide, your email address (never published), and the comment itself.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies to remember your language and cookie choices, and to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Specifically:
- Google Analytics — aggregated statistics about visits, popular articles, and navigation patterns.
- Hotjar — heatmaps and anonymous session recordings that help us spot confusing layouts.
- Advertising partners — cookies that may measure how advertisements perform and limit how often you see the same one.
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer, or block cookies in your browser altogether.
How long we keep data
Booking and contact records are kept for up to 24 months, consultation notes for the period required by professional record-keeping standards, and approved comments until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is retained by our providers for up to 14 months. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.
Who can see your data
Booking details are visible only to the practitioner you book with and the administrator who schedules appointments. We use trusted service providers — website hosting, email delivery, and the analytics tools named above — that process data under contract and solely at our instruction. We never sell personal data, and we never will.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask for corrections, or ask us to delete it, subject to the record-keeping duties that apply to healthcare providers. You may also object to analytics tracking at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@similia.health and we will respond within 30 days.
